Love is Eternal

Eighteen years of Love, Hope and Growth.

This year on March 13 marks eighteen years since our beloved daughter Sara’s passing and we are reminded that grief is a bittersweet journey of healing and growth. Each year this date serves as a sacred opportunity for reflection, connection and most importantly, hope.

Grief is such a personal journey that takes many forms, as it can feel isolating and overwhelming, however, it also offers moments of clarity and understanding that can lead to transformative change. As we navigate our own healing, we learn to carry our loved ones with us, not as a heavy weight, but more so as a guiding light that lights our path forward and through the most challenging times.

For me personally I take solace in my meditation and reiki practices. Each breath, each moment of stillness, allows for connection not only between Sara and my heart but also to the universe around me. It is within this space of stillness and contemplation that I feel whispers of hope, urging me to embrace life despite my aching heart.

Reiki (the love of the universe) and meditation remind me that love transcends the physical realm. This awareness brings such comfort to my heart. Our connections with our loved ones remain strong, offering us the courage to continue living fully, honoring the memories of those who have now passed, while embracing the beauty and healing of the present moment.

Once we begin to emerge from the depths of our grief, many discover resilience and strength they never knew existed. This is often referred to as post-traumatic growth and refers to transformation and resiliency. This is an emerging area of research that the team I’m a member of is currently working on. From the research data and my own lived experience, I’ve learned that as we face the challenges of our loss (you may have heard me refer to this before as walking through fire), we often find new perspectives, deeper relationships, and a renewed sense of purpose. Eighteen years ago, if I had been told that one day I would be on a team researching this topic or would be writing to you all about it, I would not have believed it, yet here I am!

Together we can celebrate the growth we have all experienced and share stories of transformation and resilience, all while uplifting one another. Sharing our stories can help others navigate their own paths and foster a deeper sense of connection and belonging. I’m so grateful to those who shared their own stories of resilience with me when I was first learning how to live again and find my new normal. I’ve always said that nobody understands a bereaved mom like another bereaved mom.

I hold my daughter Sara’s spirit close in my heart, and she continues to inspire and remind me that love can endure beyond a devastating loss. In Sara’s honor I have written a new meditation to honor those that we love and encourage hope and resilience. As always, I offer this meditation as complimentary and only ask that you share it with those who may also need it. May we each find peace in our journeys, with strength and hope in our heart.
