Land Acknowledgement

In Edmonton we gather on the traditional homelands of the First nations and Metis peoples, within Treaty 6 Territory. This land is home to numerous Indigenous communities, including the Cree, Salteaux, Blackfoot, Nakota Siioux, Iroquois, Dene, Ojibway, Anishnaabe, Inuit and Metis people Districts 9 and 10. We recognize the deep historical and spiritual connections that Indigenous people have with this land. We honor their enduring contributions to our communities and society. We are ever mindful of the injustices and the impacts of colonization that Indigenous peoples continue to endure. May we commit to fostering respectful relationships with the First Nations and Metis peoples, working towards reconciliation, understanding and justice.
